From my experience, I wouldn't recommend pruning peonies this month unless it's an emergency, like when there are damaged or diseased flowers. If you're not careful, you could damage or even kill your peony plant. The best time to prune peonies is in late fall, after the first frost or when the leaves have naturally turned yellow and died back.
